Aina navegando con compañeras regatistas

Once recovered from the Mini Fastnet, Aina Bauzà is heading to Les Sables d’Olonne this weekend, about 150 miles from the port of Douarnenez, where she is currently located. She will make this journey accompanied by the sailors who have supported her these past few days: Sanlay Castro, who has been her support on land in recent weeks, and the American Stacey Barnes, who accompanied Aina in transporting the Mini from San Salvador (Bahamas) to Florida and is currently in Europe.

The Calvados Cup

For the fourth time, Bauzà is preparing to participate in the next edition of the Calvados Cup, which will set sail on June 28. This international sailing event, known for its challenging course along the English Channel and the Norman coast, will test the skills and endurance of the competitors. The competition is an ideal platform for sailors like Bauzà to demonstrate their prowess in varied and often difficult weather conditions. This time, Aina will be sailing with the French navigator Sasha Lanièce.

Participation in the SAS Regatta

In addition to her participation in the Mini Fastnet, the Mallorcan sailor from the Club de Vela Port d’Andratx will also compete in the challenging SAS Regatta. This regatta, starting from the French port of Les Sables d’Olonne, ventures 1,200 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of two stages connecting the French port of Les Sables d’Olonne with the island of Horta (Azores). In July 2024, Les Sables d’Olonne will host the 10th edition of this race, with approximately 20 days of sailing divided into two stages, totaling 2,180 km and 1,200 miles in each stage.

 Double Handed World Offshore Championship

The highlight of the agenda in late September includes participating in the prestigious Double Handed World Offshore Championship  representing Spain. This demanding double-handed offshore race, held in the iconic city of Lorient, will test the skills and endurance of the competitors on a challenging course. With this competition, Bauzà is preparing to close the year with a significant challenge in the international sailing arena.

Is She Saying Goodbye to the Mini?

The sailor has a summer full of competitions and sailing ahead, but indeed, she has new challenges in mind, and after the racing season, the Redó is for sale so she can focus on building a more ambitious new project.
