The adventure continues
And this time, the adventure continues aboard a Class 40 — the next level in offshore sailing. Class 40s are 40-foot ocean racing boats, designed for solo or double-handed competition. In 2025, I’ve been selected for the Cap Pour Elles 2025 scholarship. This has allowed us to count on the support of Engie and secure 35% of the budget to launch the project and start sailing with Grand Rhino. Right now, we’re still looking for our main sponsor to consolidate a competitive Class 40 campaign. These boats combine speed, reliability, and robust construction, with a design that allows for spectacular downwind surfing. Today, this circuit is one of the most active and exciting on the international stage.
2024. Beginnings of the project
A project begins long before casting off. In 2023, I started working as a technician and sailor, combining solo Mini sailing with various experiences aboard Class 40s in Lorient, one of the most important offshore sailing hubs in the world. And in 2024, I knew it was time to take the next step, so I began mapping out my path. I moved to Lorient, the world’s epicenter for offshore sailing training. There, I designed countless projects until a clear goal emerged: the next challenge would be the Transat Café L’Or, a transatlantic race starting from Le Havre (France) and crossing the Atlantic to Martinique. It’s the Transat of big boats and big sailors. An intense, unassisted crossing, designed for fully racing boats and 40-foot monohulls or larger.
2025. Grand Rhino arrives
In 2025, I was selected for the Cap Pour Elles 2025 scholarship, a program aimed at supporting a 100% female team to take part in their first edition of the race. Our team received the most votes from the public on social media and was also selected by the broad and demanding jury of the scholarship, which recognized our talent, determination, and track record in offshore sailing.
This has allowed us to count on the support of Engie and 35% of the budget to get the project off the ground. And so, Grand Rhino has made it to the water and started sailing.
