This is the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe, the oldest and most mythical solo crossing in the world —born in 1978— and the race that gave rise to legends like Florence Arthaud, the first woman to win it outright against all the men, in 1990.

Aboard my Class40, I'll be part of a fleet of around 118 sailors —one of the largest in the history of the race— setting out from Saint-Malo to cover 3,542 nautical miles solo to the Caribbean. I'll be one of only 10 women on the start line. The only Spanish woman in the entire fleet.

For me, just reaching the start line is, in itself, the hardest stage of this adventure. And at the same time, it's the gateway to my long-term goal: moving up to IMOCA and, one day, reaching the Vendée Globe.
